Get Up And Go!

Living a fast paced lifestyle can make it easy to excuse unhealthy meal options. As a nurse, my day starts at 7 AM, which means prying myself out of bed at 5:20ish **woof**. When it comes to daily preparation there are two types of people:


  1. The person who prefers waking up with extra time to sit & eat breakfast, maybe brew a fresh cup of coffee, apply makeup and leisurely prepare for the day ahead.

  2. The person who sleeps until the last possible second and rushes to leave the house.


I am undoubtedly the latter....


Is that more stressful? Probably. Do I plan to change? Not anytime soon.


To give myself every extra minute in my cozy slice of heaven, I meal prep my lunches and place any bags I may need by the door the night before. For the last 3 months my morning routine has included making a protein shake. It's convenient, time efficient and keeps me full until my first break after the morning rush.


The science behind breakfast being "better for weight loss" has flip flopped over the past few years, so I won't sit here and tell you it's CRUCIAL to your fitness journey. My current routine has worked well for me and I will continue to stick with it until I feel I need a change.


I've been a coach through Beachbody since last November so shakeology is my go-to for my morning shake base. I've tried Pumpkin Spice Whey, Vanilla Whey, Chocolate Whey and recently switched to Tropical Strawberry Vegan. I'm currently sorting out some problems with my sensitive gut (I have an appointment with a GI specialist next week) and after talking to a few other people who have had similar reactions to whey, I made the decision to transition to vegan shake-o.

Blueberry Yogurt Shake

  4. 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

  5. 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt


Strawberry Oatmeal Shake

  1. 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

  2. 1 cup ice

  3. 1 scoop Strawberry (or Trop Strawberry Vegan) Shakeology

  4. 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries

Chocolate Surprise Shake
